The only way I can tolerate this tsunami of liquid shit without driving my fist through my monitor is by maintaining my belief in a theory I mentioned earlier: this is simply the Patterson family's take on what's really going on around them. Remember the episode of M*A*S*H where Frank was trying to get Hawkeye court martialled and gave his testimony about what happened in the OR? What we see on the printed page is the same sort of self-serving distortion of real events.
