Elly's pigeon-hole mind....

Sadly, it doesn't surprise me that Elly thinks of her father as being irretrievably senile when he might simply be inappropriately medicated. If you were to ask her why she thought this world, she'd roll her eyes and tell you 'everyone KNOWS' that stroke victims are too far gone to bring back. Just like everyone knows that a sixteen year old is a spoiled brat complaining over nothing. Or that her oldest daughter needs to settle down with someone 'comfortable and stable' who happens to be 'of her own kind'. What she means, of course, is that she doesn't really know what she's talking about, is too lazy to get the facts and is hiding behind a series of preconceptions she doesn't have the courage to question. Unlike her, I'm humble enough to admit that I don't know those things. Is Jim truly lost to her or has he been stupefied by all the pills being shoved down his throat? In her place, I'd try to find out. Then again, I'm not lazy and tend to ask questions. I'd've tried to find out what April was really worried about before the Housening instead of coming in after the fact and blatting forth goodthink. As for the whole mess with Anthony, I wouldn't automatically accept what he told me as established fact. After all, we're dealing with a human being who has biases.
