An audience in the pocket.....

I think it's safe to say the reason most of us have been turned off by the strip in the last five years is that the Pattersons not only win all the time but that their victories are so easy. They don't need to worry about anything because everything always works out. It didn't used to be that way at all. There was a time when the Pattersons and their friends had real problems and it looked like that they might not prevail. Sometimes, they didn't and sometimes, they only did so halfway. That's no longer the case. They go from one easy, not-worth-having victory to the next. Why is this? Because Lynn knows her audience. She doesn't care about the fan-base she started out with because we have the unpleasant habit of asking the question "Why?" Hell, some of the people on the Yahoo! group ask it too. The two-legged sheep on Coffee Talk she likes to present as normal people, the ones who don't 'vent' like us picky-faces, they just let what they see wash over them like idiots. Think about what they're reading? Don't be cruel! Thinking is for mean cynical people. Simple as paper, we have a crabbed-up megalomaniac cranking out piece-work sentimentality for a robot populace.
