Elly the philosopher.
Nov. 6th, 2009 01:53 amThe thing that most irritated me about the passing of Mister B was not just that it was the shabby end to a rather pathetic life marred by being shoved around like an afterthought by negligent, indifferent idiots. What really made it horrible was not his being shoved in a freezer to eventually be buried by an ethnic stereotype; the nadir of his passing was that it gave Elly the chance to share her 'wisdom' with her child. Since Elly isn't very smart or observent and doesn't seem to have actually learned too much about the world, she doesn't have a hell of a lot in the tank when it comes to understanding big issues or giving advice on the things that matter. What you instead get is mush about sad miracles, blather about life energy permeating the cosmos, witlessly cruel jokes about moving up instead of out and pointed questions about where people who cannot drop their responsibilties on a dime are whenever Liz needs them. In short, she's the mouthpiece for all the immature people who, when called upon to share what they know, prove how little they know. Think of her as Girl Thorax.
