It occurs to me that Lynn doesn't really need to change much in Jim's story arc to serve the needs of the hybrid for one simple reason: he was never really a major player to begin with. I always had the distinct impression that whenever we had an extended period of strip featuring him and Iris, it was pretty much the same thing as a storyline focused on Jo Weeder or some similar 'Friend and/or Influence' of a real major character. The only real difference is that he, given his condition, can no longer deliver nuggets of sage advice to the younger generation. Then again, that's what John and Elly will be doing in the hybrid. His function will be to show how much Lynn 'cares' about the elderly and infirm.
